Is Deja Vu an aussie comic strip?
Pretty good.
How do you like this quote:
Do you ever get that strange feeling of vuja de? Not déjà vu; vuja de. It's the distinct sense that, somehow, something that just happened has never happened before. Nothing seems familiar. And then suddenly the feeling is gone. Vuja de.
Yeah, that comic tickled me. It helps if you click through to get a good look at the sad expression on the chimps face.
Vuje de - perversely obverse. It would make a great name for a peak oil blog.
I believe George Carlin came up with the Vuje De observation; I haven't been able to confirm it yet though.
I put it into the context this scenario: You live for many years next to a dense forest. One day, somebody comes by and cuts it all down. For a brief period, everything seems completely upside down. However, after a while, you get used to it, and then ultimately, you don't even remember and can't even picture in your mind what it looked like before.
That is the scenarion we will have to face in the future. We will actually relate more to the aliens in the comic more than we will to late 20th century humanoids.
