1995 + 10, stated calmly in 1976

Stunning. I've heard Hubbert's global oil Peak prediction of 1995 ridiculed by cornucopians - but here, in 1976, he allows for a +10 year addition as a result of OPEC curtailment - and this was before the 1979 oil shock (which would push peak back a few more years, presumably).

Current articles on theoildrum.com seem to suggest that Saudi peaked in 2005, meaning that we are at or very close to Global Peak Oil production.

yeah in every era we tend to think that those who came before were rubes and ignorant savages at best, excepting a few luminaries like da-vinci and newton.

truth is, i think we is getting stupider

just look at physics cosmology. just how many invisible fudge factors and "new branches" of implicit physics are we choking on this week?

but I digress. Hubbard is obviously one of the immortals, if only because he is clearly sensible.
